Federal Consulting Group: Sales Force Integration

Example Screens from the Federal Consulting Group website

Summary

The Federal Consulting Group (FCG) is a U.S. government consulting organization within the Department of the Interior, providing management consulting services to federal agencies across finance, acquisition, HR, IT, and organizational performance. As part of a larger modernization effort, FCG sought to refresh its public-facing website and integrate backend systems to better support operations and stakeholder engagement.

As Creative Director at Cybermedia Technologies, I was part of the capture team that helped secure this contract and then led the creative execution once awarded. The primary outward-facing goal was to elevate FCG’s digital presence to feel on par with top-tier private consulting firms, without losing the trust and authority expected of a federal organization.

In parallel, the project included behind-the-scenes Salesforce integration, ensuring the platform could support internal workflows while remaining maintainable by FCG staff after handoff. In other words, the site needed to look polished, work reliably, and not require a small army of developers to keep it alive.

Solution

The solution combined a modernized visual identity, a clean and professional UI, and a Drupal-based CMS aligned with Department of the Interior standards. The website was designed to clearly articulate FCG’s consulting capabilities, present content in a structured and digestible way, and reinforce credibility through thoughtful typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.

Drupal was selected to meet DOI CMS requirements while allowing FCG to independently manage updates, content changes, and maintenance post-launch. The design emphasized flexibility and scalability, ensuring the site could evolve alongside FCG’s services without needing a full redesign every time priorities shifted.

Salesforce integration supported internal processes and data flow, connecting the outward-facing site to backend systems in a way that was functional, secure, and largely invisible to users. The result was a cohesive system where the website looked sharp on the surface and behaved responsibly under the hood. No unnecessary fireworks. Just competence.

My Role

As Creative Director, I was responsible for leading the creative vision and execution of the project from capture through delivery.

My responsibilities included:

  • Contributing to contract capture efforts and shaping the proposed creative approach

  • Defining the overall look and feel of the redesigned FCG website

  • Designing the UI layout and visual system to reflect a modern consulting brand

  • Building the website in Drupal, aligned with DOI CMS requirements

  • Collaborating with technical teams on Salesforce integration considerations

  • Ensuring the final product was maintainable by FCG staff following handoff

In practical terms, I helped transform a government consulting website from “technically accurate” to “confident, modern, and credible,” while still playing nicely with federal systems and long-term ownership requirements. A rare combination, but a useful one.
